We recently hosted a Japanese student through Sachi and Scott. It was an amazing experience and so grateful that we were able to participate and share our life with our student. We would have loved a longer time to enjoy them more and have already put our name down for next group of students! If your unsure about hosting, jump on it you wont be dissapointed. Thanks Sachi and Scott.

Excellent organisation providing cultural exchange programs between Perth and Japanese schools. We have hosted three times and every time has been unique as the students have different interests and experiences to share.

It was such a pleasure to host a Japanese student for the first time, learning each others cultures. We enjoyed showing Koto around, visiting Cohuna Wildlife park Byford, Sculptures by the sea Cottesloe, Sunset on the way to Fremantle, Cicerello's Freo, Giants Mandurah, Kwinana & Rockingham beach.
"Gold" is a very professionally run organisation and their communication was excellent, from the very friendly and helpful staff.

FAQs

What are my responsibilities as a host family?

To provide a caring and friendly home environment where your student feels welcome and safe.

Absolutely not, the students are here to experience our Aussie way of life, so stick to your normal family routine and help the student feel a part of it.

Students find the most memorable experiences in everyday life, so let them help cook a meal, go on the weekly shop, or take the dog for a walk. If you have kids, let the students observe or join them in their after-school sports practice.

Simply include the student in your everyday life and treat them like another member of your family.

We only ask 3 things of our host families:

1. Provide the students with a place to sleep in their own room or in a shared room with another child of the same gender.

2. Provide the student with 3 meals a day including a packed lunch when they’re at school or when they go on excursions.

3. Drop the students off and pick the students up from a local school or have a family member accompany them on public transport.

We are here to support you every step of the way! We’ll provide you with a Host Family Guidebook to help you get you prepared for your student’s arrival and 24/7 bilingual support once they’re here.

You will also receive hosting payment of $50 per night to help cover your expenses.

Australia is a diverse country, and we warmly welcome all types of families to host. As long as your family speaks English at home, you are invited to participate.
