How long do Japanese students stay at our school?

Visits typically range from 1 to 5 days, with key visit periods falling during Term 1 (Feb-Mar), Term 3 (Jul-Aug) and Term 4 (Oct-Dec).

How will Gold Educational Tours support my school during these visits?

We provide an on-site bilingual coordinator to support students and teachers during the entire visit. We work closely with schools to put each and every program together, removing the stress and uncertainty that comes with exchange programs.

What are the responsibilities of the host school?

The host school’s responsibility is to first and foremost provide a safe and welcoming environment for the visiting students. With Gold’s support, a host school should also put together a program schedule and arrange for a local school buddy for each visiting student.

We also see great educational value in getting the school community involved, so while Gold will still manage all host family recruitment and matching, we greatly appreciate host schools sharing the hosting opportunity with their community.

What are the responsibilities of the host family?

The host family’s responsibilities include providing a friendly home environment, involving the Japanese students in their family routine, providing meals and accommodation, and arranging transportation to and from school.

What is the role of the school buddy for Japanese students?

Each Japanese student is assigned a school buddy from the host school. The role of these buddies involves accompanying the Japanese students throughout the school day, helping them navigate the campus and providing a friendly face to enhance their cultural immersion experience.

What financial benefits do schools receive from participating?

For every program, host schools receive $60 per Japanese student, per day. From 2012 to 2024, Gold Educational Tours has contributed over $1.4 million in funding to participating schools.
