Embark on a 10-day journey through the heart of Japan for an unforgettable cultural adventure.

Stay with a local host family and explore Tokyo like a local! Filled with fun adventures to Nagano prefecture and iconic stops in Tokyo, this is a full-10-day itinerary for West Australian teenagers with an interest in global cultures. Return home with cherished memories and a transformed way of thinking as global citizens.

Transport & Accommodation

Transport:

  • Return Direct Economy Airfare (ANA Airlines) and Taxes & Charges
  • All transport for itinerary including express train fares, and IC card for local trains and subways (JPY5000 value), and private bus hire

Accommodation:

  • 3 nights accommodation at Bumb Tokyo Sports Culture Center
  • 3 night homestay with local family
  • 1 nights accommodation at Shibu Hotel in Nagano
  • 2 nights accommodation at Sakura Hotel in Ikebukuro

Meals

  • Breakfast & Dinner
  • Participants choose and purchase their own lunch

Admission Fees & School Program

Admission Fees:

  • Admissions for all sightseeing as stated on the itinerary
Note: chaperones may amend the itinerary and apply cost to another admission/service

School Program:

  • Day visit to a local school in Tokyo with peer to peer class activities

Chaperones & Others

Chaperones:

  • Two GOLD staff to accompany the students inclusive of accommodation, transport and meals.

Other:

  • Application documents
  • Pre-departure information package for participants including travel documents and a detailed information booklet containing local and cultural information.
Note: The chaperones are responsible for facilitating the itinerary. They may choose to alter aspects of the itinerary (like sightseeing locations) during the trip and redistribute allocated funds as necessary.

What’s Not Included

The cost does not include:

  • Travel insurance
  • Passport or Visa Costs
  • Personal spending money.
  • Travel e-sim

Participants are required to arrange an e-sim for the entire duration of the tour. This allows Gold chaperones to maintain contact and locate participants at all times, ensuring everyone’s safety.

Participants should be supplied with personal spending money for items of expenditure not otherwise met by the tour cost. This money allows for purchase of lunch, snacks, drinks, and other unforeseen costs.

Last day to cancel with refund of 50% balance payment. Cancellations made after this date are non-refundable.

Leading up to the tour, participants will be invited to join two workshops which will be a great opportunity to get to know one another and work on their school presentations.

Bumb Tokyo Sports Culture Center

Located in Shibuya City and walking distance from Tokyo’s parks and cafes. This accomodation features a restaurants, hot baths, air conditioning and non-smoking rooms.

Shibu Hotel

Nestled in the town of Yamanouchi with beautiful views of the snowy mountains and forrest. This accomodation features a restaurant, hot baths, traditional style rooms and a bus service to the Snow Monkey Park.

Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro

​Located near Ikebukuro Station, This accomodation offers a comfortable stay with great ammenities and a café serving local and international cuisine. Situated in the vibrant Ikebukuro district, this is an ideal base for exploring Tokyo.

3-night Homestay

During the tour, students will have the opportunity to experience everyday Japanese life through a homestay. Students will be hosted by local Japanese families in Tokyo.

2 Visit to Local Schools in Tokyo

Participants will have the opportunity to visit two local Japanese high schools in Tokyo for an immersive educational day visit where they will participate in class activities and engage with Japanese students and peers.

Who will accompany my child?

Students will be accompanied by Tomio Yamazaki (Logistics), Max Bosworth (Male Coordinator), and Mika Ohashi (Female Coordinator)!

Participants are required to organise their own travel insurance.

After submitting an EOI, you’ll receive details about the video application process. If your child is accepted, their place is secured once the non-refundable deposit is paid — any time after acceptance and before 30 June 2025.

Please note: submitting an EOI or application does not guarantee a place, as spots are limited and subject to selection criteria, in line with standard industry practices for student tours from Australia to international destinations.

Successful applicants must submit a non-refundable deposit by June 30, 2025.

50% of the remaining balance is due by August 30, 2025.

The final payment is due no later than October 30, 2025.

Students will be staying at Bumb Tokyo Sports Culture Center for 3 nights. Students will also enjoy a 3-nights homestay with local Japanese families in Tokyo before heading to Shibu Onsen in Nagano. The remaining 2 nights will be spent back in Tokyo at Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro.

Spend the weekend with your host family and learn about Japanese culture up-close and personal.

Day 7

Off to the snowy wonderland of Shibu Onsen in Nagano Prefecture! Next stop: Matsumoto Castle.

Day 8

Take a day trip to Jigokudani, the iconic Snow Monkey Park before heading to one of Japans oldest and most significant temples, Zenkoji Temple. Then, it's back to Tokyo.

Day 9

Time for an Amazing Race around Tokyo! Compete against your new friends in an challenge based supervised race around some of Tokyo's most popular destinations.

Day 10

All journeys must come to an end. We fly off in the morning back to Perth.
