Tour Dates: 29 September - 8th October

Tour Cost: $8,250 per player / $7,200 per supporter

Eligibility: Boys and Girls U16 &18 (minimum of 8 and maximum of 10 per team)

Duration: 9 nights / 10 days

Embark on a basketball tour unlike any other, blending elite competition, cultural immersion and meaningful community service.

Compete against Japan’s top high school and club basketball teams in elite matchups, forge lasting friendships, break cultural barriers on and off the court and leave a lasting impact to inspire the next generation by leading basketball clinics for local youth.

Players Package

 

Transport & Accommodation

Transport:

  • Return economy airfare (Singapore Airlines) and Taxes & Charges
  • All transport for itinerary including express train fares, and IC card for local trains and subways

Accommodation:

  • 5 nights in Tokyo
  • 3 nights in Kyoto
  • 1 night in Hiroshima

Meals

  • Daily breakfast & 2 x dinners
  • Participants to purchase their own lunch

Admission Fees & Basketball Program

  • 5 x competitive games
  • Pre-departure training sessions
  • Apparel package (incl. special trip uniform)

Chaperones:

  • One team coach & one team manager per team
  • One GOLD staff to accompany the students inclusive of accommodation, transport and meals

  • Pre-departure information package for participants including travel documents and a detailed information booklet containing local and cultural information.

Note: The chaperones are responsible for facilitating the itinerary. They may choose to alter aspects of the itinerary (like sightseeing locations) during the trip and redistribute allocated funds as necessary.

The cost does not include:

  • Travel insurance
  • Personal spending money.
  • Travel e-sim

Participants are required to arrange an e-sim for the entire duration of the tour. This allows Gold chaperones to maintain contact and locate participants at all times, ensuring everyone’s safety.

Participants should be supplied with personal spending money for items of expenditure not otherwise met by the tour cost. This money allows for purchase of lunch, snacks, drinks, and other unforeseen costs.

FAQs

Do I have to organise travel insurance?

Participants are required to organise their own travel insurance.

Successful applicants must submit a non-refundable deposit of $1,000 AUD by March 14th, 2025.

50% of the remaining balance ($3,625 AUD) is due by April 30th, 2025.

The final payment of $3,625 AUD is due no later than May 23rd, 2025.

Player Itinerary

Day 1

Settle into the bustling capital with a warm welcome dinner and a visit to the stunning TeamLab Borderless Digital Art Museum.

Day 2

Discover Tokyo’s iconic landmarks, then kick off your training with a high-intensity session to prepare for your first game.

Day 3

Visit the Meiji Shrine and Harajuku before competing in your first game against a Japanese high school team. End the day with a visit to Tokyo Tower and the famous Shibuya Crossing.

Day 5

Lead a basketball clinic for local youth, then play your third game in Tokyo. In the evening, explore the electric streets of Akihabara.

Day 6

Travel to Kyoto on the bullet train and visit the breathtaking Kinkaku-ji Temple and Arashiyama Bamboo Grove before enjoying a traditional Japanese meal.​

Day 7

Explore Kyoto’s famous Fushimi Inari Taisha and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. In the evening, compete against a top Kyoto/Osaka high school team in your fourth game and participate in a cultural exchange workshop.​

Day 8

Partner with local basketball players to coach primary school students. The evening ends with another cultural exchange, learning Japanese calligraphy and origami.​

Day 9

Visit Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park and Museum, followed by a powerful talk with atomic bomb survivors. Reflect on the lessons of peace and sports in the evening.​
